J.O. CRAFTS
Unique Paper Crafts
Judi applies folding techniques associated with origami. She uses sturdy books with good bindings and careful not to use anything antique or valuable. They are generally books that have become outdated, and have fallen out of use.
Her work involves meticulous cutting and folding paper by hand, and mounting it into decorative items which can be mounted on a stand or hung on the wall. Some smaller items have practical uses as well as decorative ones, such as her book page boxes. She also produces paper flowers detailed enough to be used in wedding decorations and accessories.
For some of her smaller pieces she prints patterns onto cardstock on her computer or uses colorful pages from magazines. Her work demonstrates a unique resourcefulness as well as patience and precision as she transforms pieces of paper into three dimensional items.
Judi is a self-taught artist that gives old and abandoned books a new lease of life by turning them into book sculptures.
